Museo Cassioli of Asciano (Siena)
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Olympic Games of Amsterdam (1928), the Country of Garbo pays tribute to Giuseppe Cassioli, the Tuscan artist from Asciano, who in 1927 won the Competition held by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) for the realization of the medal to be awarded in the Games of Amsterdam and in the following editions, up to Sydney 2000.
The exhibition is made up of five sections that fits in with the permanent collection of the museum.
It aims at showing the tight connection between Art and Sport, as well as the greatness of this artist, through his life and art.
Some videos will show medal making process, step by step, and visitors can live the thrill and the experience of the Olympics by a station of augmented reality.
Through all 2019 a series of meetings and round tables related to art and sport will be organized, but also sensitive issues such as homophobia and disability will be analyzed to raise awareness on sport’s most wholesome values.
We’ll wait for you all year to celebrate together this great artist who amazed the whole world with his art.
